Quieter area of the beach. Amazing views of the sunset over the bridge to Sanibel!
Sunsets are fabulous. Less crowded than Times Square. Water is not very clear, but that is because of Lake O discharges coming down the river. Been visiting here about once a month for 20 years. Never had any skin or respiratory issues.
A great public park that is VERY nature friendly. Understand the need for parking fees, but they seem a little high and the parking lot was not full. Facilities are in good shape but are beginning to show the wear and tear of Florida weather. Hopefully they continue to take care of the details to maintain this beautiful park.
Very nice park and beach area. Not crowded. Parking is a little pricey ($2/hour).
This is not the best beach for water quality, hence the 4 stars. The water from Lake O drains here and just ruins our water. It is not clear or nice appearing but we still swim here from time to time. What I love about this beach is that my parking pass covers free parking and that it is not "too far" of a walk like some. There are showers, drinking fountains & bathrooms. There are picnic tables and you can grill. There is a boardwalk to the beach and plenty of beach space. The sand here is amazing for my kids to play. You can find some nice shells, but this is not an ideal shelling beach. The sand is good for playing, super soft. There are extremely short nature trails through trees that my son likes to walk through & explore. We also like to walk from the trees along the water & to the beach. It is our beach of choice because we are 15 min away with young kids and here to enjoy the view and play in sand. Not to swim. Not our swim beach nor our shell finding beach. Wildlife is hit or miss for us. We have seen a GIANT pod of dolphins around sun set playing where the boats take off & having fun. The largest ever. Sunsets are amazing here also. The water could be much nicer, but we love the beach. The drive over the bridge is breath taking and just walking the beach is hugely stress relieving. A favorite. Wear repellent if planning to hang in woods longer term.
